Suzanne Malek, MLIS, is an accomplished academic librarian, researcher, and educator who serves as the Genealogy Librarian at Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) in Reno, Nevada. With a deep passion for history and preservation, Suzanne has dedicated over 30 years to researching and documenting her own family tree. This deep personal expertise informs her professional work, making her a vital asset to both the college and the broader genealogical community.

For the past nine years, Suzanne has developed and facilitated the TMCC Library Open Genealogy Lab, a free, weekly online program hosted via Zoom. Under her guidance, the lab has grown into a thriving hub for students, faculty, and the public, featuring hands-on group workshops and a robust guest speaker series showcasing national history experts.

Beyond her work in higher education, Suzanne is heavily involved in lineage and heritage organizations at the state and national levels. She serves as the State Secretary and Nevada newsletter editor for the Nevada Society of Mayflower Descendants. Additionally, her deep-rooted ancestral connections have earned her active memberships in numerous societies. These include the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), National Society Descendants of American Farmers, and the United States Daughters of 1812. She also contributes her time and expertise to the Plymouth Hereditary Society, Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, Thomas Rogers Society, and the Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War. Through her leadership, teaching, and service, Suzanne continues to preserve American heritage and inspire future generations to discover their roots.
